Privacy Policy
Effective: 29 July 2026 Last updated: 29 July 2026
This policy explains how the Glimmer Health iPhone app (“Glimmer”, “the app”) handles your information. The short answer is that it doesn't handle it at all — we operate no servers and collect nothing about you. The rest of this page sets that out precisely.
1. Who we are
Glimmer is developed and published by 16 Pixels, a business based in Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the entity responsible for the app under this policy.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@glimmerhealth.app.
2. Information we collect
None. Glimmer does not collect, receive, transmit, store or process any personal information about you on any server or system under our control. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses
- Account credentials — there is no account and no sign-up
- Health, fitness, nutrition, body-measurement or activity data
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV) or IP addresses
- Location data of any kind
- Contacts, photos, calendars or files
- Usage analytics, session data, feature-interaction events or crash reports
- Purchase or payment information — the app contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions
This is reflected in the app's App Store privacy label, which declares “Data Not Collected”.
3. Information the app processes on your device
Glimmer is useful because it works with your health information — but all of that work happens locally on your iPhone. Depending on how you use the app, it may process and store on your device:
- Meals you log, and the calories and macronutrients derived from them
- Body weight and related measurements you enter
- Workouts, step counts and activity data
- Daily goals, check-ins, streaks and earned badges
- Messages you exchange with the in-app coach
This information is written to Apple Health and to the app's own private storage container on your device. It is protected by iOS file-level encryption and your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. We have no ability to access it. It is not transmitted to us, and there is no mechanism in the app by which it could be.
4. Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your explicit permission, Glimmer reads from and writes to Apple Health on your device. You choose which categories to allow when you first grant access, and you can review or revoke that access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Glimmer, or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
In line with Apple's requirements for HealthKit apps, we confirm that Glimmer:
- Never uses HealthKit data for advertising, marketing or similar services
- Never discloses HealthKit data to any third party, including data brokers
- Never sells HealthKit data to anyone, under any circumstance
- Uses HealthKit data solely to provide health and fitness features to you within the app
Data held in Apple Health is governed by Apple's own privacy practices. If you have enabled Health sync in iCloud, Apple may sync your Health data between your own devices using Apple's end-to-end encryption. That is a system feature of iOS under your control, not a function of Glimmer, and we have no visibility into or access to it. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
Revoking Health access does not delete data Glimmer has already written to Apple Health. You can remove that data yourself in the Health app.
5. The AI coach
Glimmer's coach is powered by Apple's on-device foundation model, running on your iPhone's Neural Engine through the operating system's Foundation Models framework. When you describe a meal in plain language, that text is parsed into food and nutrition data inside a sandboxed process on your device.
As a result:
- Your prompts and the coach's responses are never transmitted off your device
- Nothing you type is sent to us, to Apple, or to any third-party AI provider
- Nothing you type is logged, reviewed by a human, or used to train any model
- The coach works with networking switched off entirely, including in airplane mode
6. Network use
Glimmer's features do not require an internet connection and the app does not send your information over the network. Every core function — logging meals, chatting with the coach, viewing rings, history, workouts and streaks — works fully offline.
Separately from the app, Apple operates the App Store, which handles downloading, installing and updating Glimmer, and may collect information under Apple's own privacy policy. We receive only aggregate, anonymous App Store sales and download reports from Apple. These contain no personal information and cannot be linked to any individual user.
7. Third parties, tracking and disclosure
Glimmer contains no third-party SDKs — no analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising network, no attribution or marketing tools, no social-media kits.
We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not permit anyone else to. We do not sell, rent, share or otherwise disclose personal information, because we hold none. There is no central database of Glimmer users' health data that could be breached, subpoenaed, sold, or transferred as part of a business sale.
If we ever received a lawful request from a government or law enforcement agency for user data, we would have nothing to produce.
8. Data retention and deletion
We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. There is no retention period on our side to describe.
Data stored on your device persists until you remove it. To delete everything:
- Delete the app. Uninstalling Glimmer removes the app and its private storage container, including coach conversations, streaks and badges.
- Remove Health data separately. Entries Glimmer wrote to Apple Health remain in the Health app after uninstalling, because they belong to your Health record rather than to Glimmer. Delete them in the Health app under Browse → the relevant category → Show All Data.
You do not need to contact us, submit a form, or wait for a deletion request to be processed.
9. Security
Because your information never leaves your iPhone, it is protected by the security of the device itself: hardware-backed file encryption, the Secure Enclave, app sandboxing, and your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.
We recommend keeping a device passcode enabled, keeping iOS up to date, and enabling encrypted backups if you back up your iPhone to a computer. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but keeping data off the network removes the most common category of risk entirely.
10. Children's privacy
Glimmer is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. As the app collects no personal information from any user, no such information about a child could be collected, retained or disclosed.
11. Your rights
Privacy laws including the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) give you rights over personal information a company holds about you — to access it, correct it, delete it, port it, object to its processing, or opt out of its sale.
We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase. You retain full and direct control of your data at all times: it is on your device, and you can inspect or delete it without our involvement.
For completeness: we have never sold or shared personal information, and we do not process personal information for targeted advertising. If you believe we hold information about you and wish to make a request or a complaint, write to support@glimmerhealth.app and we will respond within 30 days. Australian users may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC); users in the EU or UK may complain to their local supervisory authority.
12. International users
Glimmer is published from Australia. Because no personal information is transmitted to us or to anyone else, there is no international transfer of your personal information to disclose, and no cross-border data flow to safeguard.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how Glimmer handles information, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Any change that materially reduces the protections described here would be announced in the app before it took effect, and where the law requires it, we would ask for your consent.
Previous versions of this policy are available on request.
